Video Game Update to Version 1.1

  • Post author:

After a break to clear my mind, I’m refreshed and back to working on getting the video game ready for Android and iOS as well as starting work on the many YouTube videos I have planned for the CueAndMe YouTube channel. But the main reason for this post is to inform you of an added Angle Detective video game feature. I added a display of the main camera’s height measurement from the floor that changes as the user adjusts the camera. What this allows users to do is to measure their own personal eye height at home and use the eye height display in the video game to match their own eye height.

The angles we see when we are at the real table are almost always skewed, because we are not tall enough to see pure 2-dimensional angles of shot setups from an overhead view. We are actually viewing the pure angles from a somewhat angled perspective. Therefore, the factor of our own personal eye height comes into play. The Angle Detective video game allows us to practice seeing precise angles over and over again to embed them into our memories. But I realized recently that users should know the height of the virtual camera at all times so that they can practice memorizing the angles from the height that matches their own personal eye height. That’s why I updated the game to version 1.1 and added this feature.

You can download the new version of the game at https://cueandme.itch.io/angle-detective

Angle Detective Video Game for PC Released!

  • Post author:

I’ve kept this a secret until now, but a ton of work and money has gone into this video game that was designed to be an away-from-the-table training addition to the Angle Detective system. I’m happy to finally reveal it to the world! Currently only the PC version is available, but Android and iOS versions are in the works.

Because of the significant money that I had to invest in this, I do have to charge for the Premium version. I just can’t afford to make it donation-based like the rest of the CueAndMe offerings. However, there is a Lite version that is free. All of the information is on the Angle Detective Video Game page. Thanks and enjoy!

Release Postponed a Day

I’m going to need at least one more day to get everything ready for the new release, but I’m expecting it to be released on Tuesday.

Abridged Version of Angle Detective Added

  • Post author:

To cater to readers who might be overwhelmed by the full version of Angle Detective, I decided to add an abridged version. The abridged version is actually embedded directly within the full version as image markers that indicate topics and regions of the full version that shouldn’t be missed. The abridged version is fully explained on the Angle Detective Introduction page.

SubSquare Examples Page and Rectangle Groups Examples Page Added to Angle Detective

  • Post author:

Two pages—SubSquare Examples and Rectangle Groups Examples—were added to show the power of SubSquares and Rectangle Groups at the table. Both pages can be found under Application/Rectangle Recognition. The two pages contain several image sequence examples with a total of 74 new images added.

I also edited the Angle Detective navigation drop-down menu to make sure that certain pages are not missed when reading on mobile devices. Previously, the pages Position 1 Patterns and Reference Shot Practice did not automatically allow entry when tapping from the navigation menu.

Reference Aim Tool and More Images Added to Angle Detective

  • Post author:

I added a new tool to the Angle Detective printable tools download folder available on the Introduction page. The tool displays both center and edge Angle Detective aims and labels for left and right cuts.

85 more images were also added to the Position 1 Pattern Examples page. There are currently 17 pattern image sequence examples, comprising a total of 132 images.

I’m still working on the abridged version of Angle Detective. It should be out some time next week.

Angle Detective Position 1 Pattern Examples Page Added

  • Post author:

I added the page Position 1 Pattern Examples after the Application section’s Position 1 Patterns page. Image sequences show the patterns being applied at the table. 47 new images were added. So far, only examples of the ‘Master L’ pattern and the ‘h’ pattern are shown, but I plan to add examples of all patterns as I find time to create them. I hope the examples help to show just how useful the patterns can be at the table. Lots more to come!

Error Corrected

  • Post author:

A reader caught an error on the Angle Detective Geometry page under the Angle Detective’s Theory section. The ‘F’ rectangle was showing 5/8 rather than what it now has been corrected to show, which is 6/8 or 3/4. I hope that didn’t cause too much confusion for those who had already gotten there before the correction. Sorry about that.

Please contact me if you find any other errors. Thanks, everyone!
